Contexto

In Contexto, every word you try gets a position in a ranked list, and the secret word is number 1. The ranking comes from an algorithm that learned how words are used together in thousands of texts.

How to play

    Guess a word

    Type any single word. You have unlimited guesses.

  2. 02

    Check its position

    Each word shows its position in the list; the lower the number, the closer you are, and the secret word is number 1.

    Follow the context

    Closeness is about how words are used, not just their meaning, so related ideas can rank highly.

  4. 04

    Use a hint or give up

    From the menu you can ask for a hint, which reveals a word, or give up to see the answer.

Good to know

  • Hint difficulty. In Settings, hints can reveal a word at half your best position, one place closer, or at random.
  • Past games. You can play any previous day's game since launch, or a random one.
  • Other languages. Contexto can be played in other languages, and each has its own words of the day.
